Born in Senegal (Africa) but raised in a multicultural environment, Frenchie carries with her the rich memories of French history, intertwined with the experiences of former French colonies. This unique background shapes her teaching philosophy, allowing her to provide a nuanced perspective on what it means to be French today.
Frenchie is unafraid to challenge conservative views about culture, understanding that while many cherish the purity of traditions, she is not here to diminish them. Instead, she sees herself as an enhancement, a cherry on top of a rich cultural cake. She respects the authenticity of her roots while also embracing the evolution that comes with a new generation.

Author's Biography
BIOGRAPHY
Olivia Senghor is an African-French author, educator, and community builder originally from Dakar, Senegal. After spending her formative years in Paris, she developed a lasting love for the French language, literature, history, and the many cultures connected through the Francophone world.
French is Olivia’s first language, and she has more than ten years of teaching experience. Her approach to education is warm, creative, and rooted in real-life connection. She believes that learning a language should be more than memorizing vocabulary and grammar. It should invite people to discover new cultures, develop confidence, exchange ideas, and build relationships.
In 2024, Olivia began writing The Voyages of Frenchie the Teacher, an educational adventure series created to help young readers learn and practice French through storytelling. The books follow Frenchie, a lively French teacher who introduces her students to French-speaking countries and communities through travel, history, geography, literature, food, and cultural exploration.
Through Frenchie’s adventures, Olivia hopes to make language learning accessible, memorable, and joyful while encouraging young people to remain curious about the world beyond their own communities.
Her work is deeply influenced by her multicultural heritage and by a Senegalese and Francophone family legacy of literature, public service, advocacy, and humanist thought. Olivia believes that identity does not have to fit neatly into one box. Her own story brings together African, French, Portuguese, Cape Verdean, and American influences, all of which have shaped the way she teaches, writes, and connects with others.
At the heart of Olivia’s philosophy is the belief that language and storytelling can serve as bridges between people. Rather than focusing only on what separates cultures, she seeks to explore the history, humanity, beauty, and shared experiences that connect them.
This philosophy also inspired Olivia to create Let’s French & Brunch, a relaxed cultural gathering where French learners and speakers can practice the language, share a meal, meet new people, and develop friendships in a welcoming environment.
Her commitment to books and human connection later led her to establish Bloom and Books by Us, a reading and personal-growth community for women and men. Bloom grew from Olivia’s own experience of finding healing, understanding, and self-awareness through books. It offers people a place to engage in meaningful conversations, examine their lives with compassion, and learn from one another without expecting one person to have all the answers.
Whether she is teaching, writing, organizing gatherings, or supporting others through conversation, Olivia’s purpose remains the same: to help herself and people feel more confident, curious, connected, and open to the stories that shape our world.
